The Club

In 1912 the hockey and tennis department at Rheydter Spielverein was founded.
At ”Am Gerstacker” tennis courts were set out while hockey was played on a natural grass pitch at Breite Strasse.
In 2000 the hockey & tennis department separated from the main club. Today it has more than 400 members and is an independent registered association.
As long ago as 1959 Bernd Gothe became president of Rheydter Spielverein Hockey & Tennis and is therefore the longest-serving president in Westdeutscher Hockeyverband.
The club focuses on encouraging youth. With more than 200 active young players, many voluntary helpers and fully skilled coaches RSV-Hockey belongs to the top group in West German hockey. The emphasis is not only on competition but also on mass participation in sports to reach as many young people as possible.
